Public health innovations are all around us—from seatbelts, to water filtration systems, to the 911 line—and help to improve life expectancy in the U.S. every day.

Black youth who were advised by caregivers on how to conduct themselves during police stops experienced significantly lower levels of anticipatory stress about possible police brutality – whether towards oneself (direct) or loved ones such as family or friends (vicarious). 

While public health work has never been easy, there are ways to meet the moment.

Sudan’s conflict has severely disrupted medical training in the country with lasting consequences. It’s time for international organizations to join with Sudanese partners to revitalize medical training, write three Sudanese health professionals.
